He wanted to install a meadow and backyard pond, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">he knew that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/homegrownnationalpark.org\/tallamys-hub\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">planting native<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will always mean the hardiest plants and the most wildlife attraction potential. Like many clever Wild Acres readers, he had already done some homework, but we sent him links to our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/habitat\/waponds.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with step-by-step instructions and recommended <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mdflora.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">native plants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for ponds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recently we received a correspondence from Randall Cleaver about his exciting success.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The results in the summer of 2025 speak for themselves! The Cleavers planted more than 100 native plants including 22 trees. They now own a self-described \u201cdragonfly and frog farm.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Their favorite plants right now are the native wild asters, which attract and support a wide variety of insects.
