The Community Parks and Playgrounds program provides flexible grants to municipal governments to rehabilitate, expand, or improve existing parks, create new parks, or purchase and install playground equipment. The proposals will be reviewed and considered for submission to the General Assembly as part of the Governor\u2019s FY 2027 budget.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governor Wes Moore\u2019s FY 2026 budget included a total of $5 million for 26 projects across 15 counties. These projects include new pickleball courts in Cumberland, new playground equipment in Denton, Greensboro, Chesapeake City, Vienna, Mount Airy, Thurmont, Loch Lynn Heights, Rockville, Berwyn Heights, Williamsport, Salisbury and Ocean City, and pavilions, restrooms, lighting, and field improvements in other cities and towns. As the projects are ready, they will be presented to the Board of Public Works for approval.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland\u2019s Community Parks and Playground program invests in the future of Maryland\u2019s established communities by developing and revitalizing parks and playgrounds statewide. To date, over $92 million has been approved so far for over 880 parks and playground projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The following Community Parks and Playgrounds projects were included in the FY 2026 budget:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Allegany County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City of Cumberland \u2013 Fairmont Avenue Park improvements \u2013 $225,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct new pickleball courts and a community garden, expand parking and sidewalks, and associated site amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Midland \u2013 Baker Park soccer field lighting upgrade \u2013 $75,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Install new lighting system for the soccer field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Caroline County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Denton \u2013 Sharp Road Park playground \u2013 $300,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and install playground and safety surfacing for 2 to 5 year olds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Greensboro \u2013 Jesse Sutton Memorial Park improvements \u2013 $250,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct a sensory-friendly park, including playground, gardens, picnic tables, and other park amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Carroll County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Hampstead \u2013 Main Street Commons Pocket Park \u2013 $51,322<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct a new pocket park, including pavilion, seating, walkways, and associated site amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Manchester \u2013 Christmas Tree Park playground and court resurfacing \u2013 $175,106<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resurface, restripe and add pickleball court lines on the existing tennis courts, and install new playground safety surfacing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Cecil County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Chesapeake City \u2013 Helen Titter Park playground \u2013 $293,425<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Design and install a new playground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Dorchester County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Secretary \u2013 Secretary Town Park tennis court rehabilitation \u2013 $228,790<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Improve the tennis courts, including resurfacing, fencing, benches, and other amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Vienna \u2013 Vienna Entrance Park expansion \u2013 244,512<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and install a new pavilion, playground, and other park amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Frederick County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Mount Airy \u2013 Prospect Park improvements \u2013 $250,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Install new playground equipment, pavilion, walking path, restroom facilities, and associated site amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Thurmont \u2013 Carroll Street Park playground improvements \u2013 $52,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment and safety surfacing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Garrett County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Loch Lynn Heights \u2013 Loch Lynn Heights community playground \u2013 $149,600<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment, safety surfacing, and fencing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Mountain Lake Park \u2013 Leo Martin Park lighting \u2013 $10,100<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and install LED lighting for securing and expanding park usage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Harford County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Aberdeen \u2013 Festival Park splash pad \u2013 $232,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Design and construct a splash pad, including electrical upgrades, equipment shed, seating, and associated site amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Kent County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Galena \u2013 Galena Community Park improvements \u2013 $92,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct improvements to walking paths including the addition of outdoor fitness stations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Rock Hall \u2013 Ferry Park restrooms \u2013 $153,432<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct a new permanent restroom at the park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Montgomery County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City of Rockville \u2013 Fallsgrove Park playground replacement \u2013 $225,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment and safety surfacing, and install a new ADA entrance and benches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Prince George\u2019s County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Berwyn Heights \u2013 Berwyn Heights Elementary School recreation revitalization \u2013 $200,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rehabilitate the current basketball court, tennis courts, and playground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City of Laurel \u2013 Wilson Park playground replacement \u2013 $224,246<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment and safety surfacing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Talbot County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Trappe \u2013 Home Run Baker Park softball field \u2013 $190,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct a new softball field, including field development, fencing, dugouts, batting cages, and associated amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Washington County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Funkstown \u2013 Jerusalem Park improvements \u2013 $275,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construct new restrooms, improvements to the existing pavilion, and provide associated site amenities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Williamsport \u2013 Byron Memorial Park woodlands youth playground \u2013 $229,448<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment and safety surfacing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Wicomico County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City of Salisbury \u2013 Woodcock Park playground \u2013 $179,270<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the existing outdated playground equipment with new equipment and safety surfacing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Sharptown \u2013 Gene Lowe Park field lights \u2013 $229,340<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and install LEP lights for multiple areas of the park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Worcester County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Ocean City \u2013 Northside Park playground \u2013 $267,140<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and install new playground equipment and safety surfacing for 5 to 12 year olds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town of Snow Hill \u2013 Sturgis Park restroom \u2013 $298,215<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Purchase and
