The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has certified Cedar Point Marina in Grasonville as the newest <\/span>Maryland Clean Marina<\/span><\/a>. The department awards this designation to marinas that comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and voluntarily adopt a significant portion of recommended best practices in the <\/span>Maryland Clean Marina Guidebook<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/i> There are now <\/span>147 certified Clean Marinas<\/span><\/a> in Maryland, representing about 30% of the marinas in the state.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cedar Point\u2019s owners removed several derelict boats from the property, removed old paints and other products that were an environmental risk, and implemented new procedures to control boat maintenance practices. The facility also recycles boat shrinkwrap and educates their customers about best practices to protect our waterways as part of their Clean Marina practices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Maryland Clean Marina Program is part of the state\u2019s efforts to reduce non-point source runoff. Marinas, boatyards, and yacht clubs of any size are encouraged to pursue Clean Marina certification. The Clean Marina tools, including the Guidebook and Award Checklist, are available on the <\/span>Department of Natural Resources website<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
