The <\/span>Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Sport Fisheries Advisory Commission<\/span><\/a> are seeking nominations for the annual <\/span>Maryland Sport Fisheries Achievement Award<\/span><\/a>, a celebration of conservation, education, and sportsmanship. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have provided sustained efforts in habitat management, conservation, education, research, or other meaningful contributions that benefit fish and recreational fishing in Maryland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nominations for the Maryland Sport Fisheries Achievement Award are being accepted now through January 31, 2025. Recipients will receive a proclamation signed by the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and the chair of the Sport Fisheries Advisory Commission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the award was created and nomination first accepted in 2019, recipients have included:<\/span><\/p>\n

2020: Bernard ‘Lefty’ Kreh (posthumous), Dr. Kenneth Lewis<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

2021: Joe Brooks (posthumous), Robert Wall<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

2022 James ‘Jim’ Gracie (posthumous), Bruno Vasta<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

2023: Monty Hawkins<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

2024: Dr. Ray Morgan<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Nominations for the 2025 award can be made by completing an <\/span>online form<\/span><\/a>, which includes submitting a detailed essay describing the nominee\u2019s contributions to Maryland recreational fisheries.
