{"id":42298,"date":"2024-08-28T14:16:11","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T18:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=42298"},"modified":"2024-08-28T14:20:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T18:20:04","slug":"marylands-outdoor-learning-partnership-accepting-applications-for-representatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2024\/08\/28\/marylands-outdoor-learning-partnership-accepting-applications-for-representatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland\u2019s Outdoor Learning Partnership Accepting Applications for Representatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/384\/19901239731_2e11141236.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of girls studying a stream bed\" width=\"415\" height=\"235\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources photo<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Maryland State Department of Education are accepting member applications to participate as representatives in the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2024\/04\/22\/governor-moore-celebrates-earth-day-signs-executive-order-creating-the-maryland-outdoor-learning-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Maryland Outdoor Learning Partnership<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Established by Governor Wes Moore\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/governor.maryland.gov\/Lists\/ExecutiveOrders\/Attachments\/45\/EO%2001.01.2024.15%20Maryland%20Outdoor%20Education%20Partnership_Accessible.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Executive Order<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on April 22, 2024, the Outdoor Learning Partnership is a new interagency collaboration that includes state agencies, federal partners, nonprofit environmental and outdoor education organizations, and formal education partners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Partnership, which absorbed the former Project Green Classrooms program, is charged with empowering all of Maryland\u2019s youth to grow as environmental stewards that access, conserve, and restore our natural resources to ensure a climate-ready Maryland.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To fulfill its responsibilities, the Partnership seeks representatives from the following groups:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Three representatives of nonprofit organizations dedicated to environmental education;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One representative of a Parent Teacher Organization;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two representatives of local governments that have demonstrated leadership in sustainable development practices;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two representatives (teacher or principal) serving from an outdoor school, Maryland Green School, Maryland Green Ribbon School, or school with a focus on environmental education;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One district environmental literacy supervisor or coordinator;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One district sustainability supervisor or coordinator;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One school Superintendent;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One environmental education teacher;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two representatives of youth-based organizations;
