Some of these species offer generous seasons and bag limits and are abundant throughout Maryland.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAlthough many hunters focus on deer during this time of year, other species can also provide excellent opportunities to make memories afield,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wildlife and Heritage Service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Director Karina Stonesifer said. \u201cSmall game hunting can be particularly enjoyable for hunters that enjoy a more active, fast-paced style of hunting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Squirrel season opened September 2 with a bag limit of six per day (The Delmarva fox squirrel is not included in this season; this subspecies remains protected to ensure continued population recovery). Squirrels are common throughout Maryland, especially where mast-producing trees such as oaks are present. Rabbit season begins on November 4 with a bag limit of four per day. Both of these seasons are open until February 29.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For hunters in Garrett, Allegany, and Washington counties, the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/hunting\/turkey-seasons-limits\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fall turkey hunting season<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0will open on October 28 and continue through November 5 with a bag limit of one turkey per hunter. Fall turkey hunters should be aware that\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/hunting\/black-bear-hunting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">bear<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/hunting\/deer-seasons-bag-limits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">deer muzzleloader<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(Region B) seasons are also open on October 28.
