Applications are now being accepted for the\u00a0<\/span>Keep Maryland Beautiful<\/span><\/a>\u00a0grants program, managed by <\/span>Forever Maryland<\/span><\/a> in partnership with the\u00a0<\/span>Maryland Environmental Trust<\/span><\/a>, a unit of the\u00a0<\/span>Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/span><\/a>, and the <\/span>Maryland Department of Transportation<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three different grants are being offered to help volunteer and nonprofit groups, communities, and land trusts to support environmental education projects, litter removal, citizen stewardship, and solve natural resource issues in urban and rural areas. <\/span>The deadline to\u00a0<\/b>apply<\/b><\/a>\u00a0for funding is Nov. 15, 2022.<\/b> Awards will be announced in spring 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep Maryland Beautiful grants will be offered in two categories:\u00a0<\/span>Environmental Education and Community Initiatives<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for community groups, local governments, and nonprofits; and\u00a0<\/span>Land Trust Capacity, Excellence, and Stewardship<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for local land trusts. Keep Maryland Beautiful <\/span>grants<\/span><\/a> are awarded annually to support the removal of thousands of pounds of litter and the revitalization of public lands and waterways in an effort to enhance and expand local capacity to conserve the state\u2019s resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOver the course of several successful grant periods, the Keep Maryland Beautiful Grants program has highlighted many individuals, organizations and communities who have been a positive force of change,\u201d said Forever Maryland Chair Nick Dilks. \u201cForever Maryland is humbled by the recipients and their impact. We look forward to the next wave of prospects, while learning about their goals and missions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud to be part of such a great program, as I\u2019ve been able to witness our grant winners shape their communities and themselves into a formidable group for Maryland conservation,\u201d said MET chair Gary Burnett.<\/span><\/p>\n

Funding for the Keep Maryland Beautiful grants program is provided by the <\/span>Maryland Department of Transportation<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Forever Maryland<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Maryland Environmental Trust<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
