Fan Favorite Winner to Be Chosen on Facebook<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\"Jumping<\/a>The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has announced the winners of the 2022 <\/span>Natural Resource Photo Contest<\/span><\/a>, with the grand prize going to David Terao of Silver Spring for his captivating and intricate photo of a jumping spider.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s grand prize package includes $500, a <\/span>Maryland State Park and Trails Passport<\/span><\/a>, a subscription to <\/span>Maryland Natural Resource magazine<\/span><\/a>, and five copies of the 2023 calendar with the winning image displayed on the cover.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s contest received nearly 2,500 photos submitted by 500 photographers. In addition to the overall grand prize winner, the judges selected first through third place winners in four seasonal categories\u2014winter, spring, summer, and fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Still to be determined is the \u201cFan Favorite,\u201d which will be chosen by popular opinion on the department\u2019s Facebook page. Followers are encouraged to \u201cLike\u201d and \u201cShare\u201d their pick when the photos are posted on September 16, with votes taken through September 26.<\/span><\/p>\n

First place: <\/span>Autumn Screech<\/span><\/a> by Scott Suriano of Baltimore<\/span><\/p>\n

Second place: <\/span>Misty Fall Sunrise<\/span><\/a> by John Ruffa of Laurel<\/span><\/p>\n

Third place: <\/span>Kayaking the Sinepuxent Bay<\/span><\/a> by Ann Rogers of Ellicott City<\/span><\/p>\n

Winter:<\/b><\/p>\n

First place: <\/span>Seal at Sunset<\/span><\/a> by April Price of Crofton<\/span><\/p>\n

Second place: <\/span>Snowy Trail<\/span><\/a> by Jennifer McCord of Stevensville<\/span><\/p>\n

Third place: <\/span>Do Not Mess with the Peregrine Falcon<\/span><\/a> by Maynard Knapp of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.<\/span><\/p>\n
