The first round included 16 of the projects. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Board of Public Works will review the funding items during the coming fiscal year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once the funding is released, DNR provides flexible grants to municipalities to rehabilitate, expand, or improve existing parks, create new parks, or purchase and install playground equipment.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe Community Parks &amp; Playgrounds Program invests in the future of Maryland&#8217;s communities by developing and revitalizing parks and playgrounds statewide,\u201d Maryland DNR Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. \u201cFrom nature trails to accessible playgrounds, athletic fields, splash pads, and other outdoor gathering spaces, this program benefits all Marylanders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The following Community Parks &amp; Playgrounds Projects were approved July 27 by the Board of Public Works:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Allegany County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Barton<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meadow Park Pavilion equipment<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">$100,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Caroline County<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Preston<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">James T. Playgrounds Program<\/a>.\u00a0 All municipalities throughout the state are invited to apply.\u00a0 Grant proposals will be reviewed and considered for submission as part of the Governor\u2019s FY24 budget.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More information on the Community Parks &amp;
