They include a number of species of bees, butterflies, beetles, moths, wasps, flies, ants, and even birds. Maryland State Parks are committed to the protection of these vital creatures.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Individuals can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopdnr.com\/MPS_Donations.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">donate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to support butterfly and bumblebee habitat and education in state parks. Projects supported by these donations include planting and restoring native gardens, field edges, and meadows that benefit a wide variety of species and connect park visitors to the beauty and wonder of nature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Park visitors are invited to participate in ongoing educational programs and visit existing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/Project-Butterfly-Bee.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">gardens, fields, and meadows<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at parks that support thriving pollinator populations. \u201cParks for Pollinators\u201d is also the theme of the 15th annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/parkquest\/pages\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Park Ques<\/span><b>t<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> family activity series happening now throughout Maryland State Parks.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Project Butterfly &amp; Bumblebee\u2019 Includes Activities and Donation Opportunities\u00a0 This spring, the Maryland Park Service has launched Project Butterfly &amp; Bumblebee, an ongoing slate of programs and activities to educate the general public about the role pollinators play in maintaining diverse ecosystems and the nation\u2019s food supply.
