Grants Supports Communities, Projects, and Schools<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Forever Maryland<\/span> is proud to announce that <\/span>85 grants totaling <\/span>$320,000 <\/span><\/a>have been awarded toward environmental education, community cleanup and beautification projects through the\u00a0<\/span>Keep Maryland Beautiful<\/span><\/a>\u00a0program.<\/span><\/p>\n

These annual grants are funded by\u00a0the <\/span>Maryland Environmental Trust<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Forever Maryland<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD)<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cKeep Maryland Beautiful grants help improve, sustain, and enhance communities all across our state,\u201d Maryland Natural Resources Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. \u201cThese local initiatives also help Maryland meet our goals of cleaner water and access to green space for all our citizens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDHCD is pleased to provide $250,000 to nonprofits, local governments and community groups,\u201d said DHCD Secretary Kenneth C. Holt. \u201cThese grants provide support for local projects and activities that directly impact litter removal, greening and beautification, and improving citizen stewardship in communities statewide.\u201d<\/span>

\n<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s important to MDOT\u2019s mission that we contribute to environmental stewardship across Maryland,\u201d said MDOT Secretary James F. Ports Jr. \u201cThis year\u2019s package of 16 MDOT grants \u2013 which include funds for purchasing native shrubs, getting rid of invasive species, educating students and maintaining a pollinator garden \u2013 build on the department\u2019s commitment to preserve our ecosystem. I look forward to seeing these projects bloom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep Maryland Beautiful recipients included schools, nonprofit groups, municipalities and land trusts in 20 counties and Baltimore City. Many of these grants focus on developing and supporting communities, families, youth and students who take personal responsibility for the health of their communities, protecting nature in their backyards and seeking ways to help reduce or resolve environmental challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled with the success we\u2019ve seen from the grant program,\u201d said Forever Maryland Chair Nick Dilks. \u201cThis program will continue to make a significant environmental, economic, health, and recreational impact across Maryland through these new grant projects.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n
