These projects include new and upgrades to existing park facilities across the city. In January, the board approved about $4 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/land\/pages\/programopenspace\/program-open-space-101.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Program Open Space<\/a> grant funding provided by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for Baltimore City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In total, Governor Larry Hogan\u2019s Fiscal Year 2022 Budget included $4.2 million through the <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/land\/Pages\/ProgramOpenSpace\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Program Open Space Local<\/a> program, and $6 million in direct grants to Baltimore City for its park projects. Additionally, Baltimore City is receiving $10 million through the Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure program.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cEnsuring that all Marylanders have adequate access to parks and outdoor recreation is a priority for our department,\u201d Maryland DNR Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. \u201cThese projects to expand and support recreation and park amenities in Baltimore City exemplify the principles and goals of Program Open Space. We are pleased to partner with the city and support these investments for residents and visitors of Baltimore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Program Open Space funding for Baltimore City in FY 2022 includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Baltimore Park System FY 2022 direct grant for general operation and maintenance \u2013 $3.1 million<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bocek Park Athletic Center \u2013 $600,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cab Calloway Legends Square Park \u2013 $250,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chick Webb Recreation Center &#8211; Indoor Pool \u2013 $1,967,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City Springs Park Improvements &#8211; Field House \u2013 $700,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clifton Park Maintenance Facility \u2013 $550,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DeWees Park Improvements \u2013 $250,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Farring Baybrook Parking Lot \u2013 $150,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Federal Hill Slope Stabilization Phase 2 \u2013 $350,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Druid Hill Park Reservoir Improvements &#8211; Phase I \u2013 $400,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gwynns Falls Athletic Field Renovation \u2013 $300,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Morrell Park Improvements &#8211; Field House \u2013 $419,341<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Patterson Park Athletic Field Renovation \u2013 $350,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Patterson Park Master Plan Implementation &#8211; Boat Lake \u2013 $300,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Riverside Athletic Field House \u2013 $564,000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Established in 1969, Program Open Space symbolizes Maryland&#8217;s long term commitment to conserving our natural resources while providing exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities for our citizens<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and visitors alike.
