Time is Now to Plan Spring Planting<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Orders are being accepted for the spring 2022 planting season for shrubs and trees from the\u00a0<\/span>John S. Ayton\u00a0State Tree Nursery<\/span><\/a>, managed by the\u00a0<\/span>Maryland\u00a0Department of Natural Resources<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trees benefit the environment as well as enhance natural habitat for birds, squirrels, and other wildlife. Almost all trees and shrubs available for sale are native, and many are also pollinator-friendly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the nursery\u2019s customers are individual landowners who enjoy adding trees to their property for\u00a0beauty and conservation purposes,\u201d Maryland State Tree Nursery Manager Richard Garrett said. \u201cThe nursery seeks to provide exceptional customer service with high-quality seedlings at competitive prices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The nursery offers more than 50 conifer and deciduous species each year, from Loblolly Pine to River Birch, to meet a variety of aesthetic preferences and conservation needs. These shrubs and trees are ideal for buffer plantings, soil protection, watershed protection, wildlife habitat or windbreak protection.<\/span><\/p>\n
