Anglers are advised to follow social distancing and other precautions as outlined in the department\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2020\/05\/06\/frequently-asked-questions-about-governor-hogans-stay-at-home-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">update regarding Maryland outdoor recreation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland hosts license-free fishing days annually on the first two Saturdays in June and on the Independence Day holiday. On these days, any individual may catch and possess finfish in any tidal and nontidal waters of Maryland, as long as it\u2019s for recreational purposes. All anglers must follow current size and catch limits found in the department\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/fishing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fishing and crabbing guide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The department also has dozens of other resources to help new or experienced anglers, including <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/gisapps.dnr.state.md.us\/PublicFishingAccess\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">angler access maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2017\/06\/21\/click-before-cast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click Before You Cast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> environmental monitoring reports, and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Fisheries\/Pages\/fishfacts-index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fish identification charts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aside from these free fishing days and certain <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Fisheries\/Pages\/free-fishing.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">license-free areas<\/a>, anyone 16 or older fishing in Maryland must possess a license, which can be obtained or renewed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/compass.dnr.maryland.gov\/dnrcompassportal\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or on the department\u2019s<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/dnrapp.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> mobile app<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
