{"id":30201,"date":"2020-02-27T07:52:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T12:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=30201"},"modified":"2020-03-04T10:14:20","modified_gmt":"2020-03-04T15:14:20","slug":"department-accepting-submissions-for-wild-maryland-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2020\/02\/27\/department-accepting-submissions-for-wild-maryland-recipes\/","title":{"rendered":"Department Accepting Submissions for \u2018Wild Maryland\u2019 Recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anglers, Hunters Sought for Cookbook Contributions<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 393px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/7874\/32131386007_86f21cc573.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of soups made with duck meat\" width=\"383\" height=\"215\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Stephen Badger<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> is putting out a call to all wildlife and cooking enthusiasts to submit their favorite recipes featuring Maryland species for possible inclusion in a cookbook.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMaryland is home to proud hunters and anglers; and is also known for its excellent cuisine,\u201d said Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio. \u201cCreating a DNR cookbook will allow us to showcase our heritage and our way of life for years to come through recipes that can be shared and passed down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submissions must include a list of required ingredients, preparation instructions, and feature a species found in Maryland. Submissions of recipes for invasive species are strongly encouraged. The addition of family anecdotes and a few words about the history behind a recipe are welcome.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please email your favorite recipes to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:Recipes.DNR@maryland.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recipes.DNR@maryland.gov<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for consideration. The deadline for recipe submissions is extended to March 31, 2020. A maximum of five recipes per person can be submitted for review.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recipes will be reviewed by a panel of department experts and cooking enthusiasts, using the following criteria:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is the recipe complete?
