The $20 permit allows citizens to remove downed trees from the park in designated wood-cutting areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition to getting an economical source of winter heat for their homes, firewood cutters are also helping our state parks remove the hazard of downed trees. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Park staff will provide permit-holders with maps of the area along with rules and regulations. Each permit must be purchased by the individual removing firewood from the site. Cutters provide their own equipment and are responsible for cutting, loading, and transporting the firewood. Permits are for personal use &#8212; commercial vendors are not permitted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Permits are available while supplies last and can be purchased from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the park\u2019s administration office, 14039 Catoctin Hollow Road, Thurmont.
