New this year, the department is offering high quality, native shrubs and trees, which are grown and provided by American Native Plants in Baltimore County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAutumn is a great time to plant native species because shrubbery and trees can survive and thrive over the winter months,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Forest Service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Director Don VanHassent said. \u201cThere is certainly affordable, attractive, and beneficial greenery for every public property and space among our diverse and robust offerings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Church, civic, community, and school groups; homeowners associations; local governments; nonprofits; and others are eligible to purchase plantings from the Tree-Mendous program, as long as the shrubs and trees are planted on community and public land with prior approval from the landowner. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Documents\/Fall_OrderForm2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Order today!<\/span><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To save on delivery fees, communities and nonprofits that order now can also pick their trees up at several sites in October<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/western\/greenbrier.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Greenbrier State Park <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oct. 17<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/southern\/cedarville.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cedarville State Forest<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Oct. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">22 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/eastern\/tuckahoe.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tuckahoe State Park<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Oct. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">24. Recipients can also pick their orders up at American Native Plants in Baltimore <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">County, which grows and provides the trees, throughout the season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since starting Tree-Mendous Maryland in 1989, the Maryland Forest Service has assisted more than 3,000 groups and organizations with plantings. Tens of thousands of shrubs and trees have been planted in communities, parks, schools, squares, and towns across the state.
