The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cActivities throughout the weekend will give visitors a look into the lives of the people who fought on Maryland\u2019s western frontier during the French and Indian War,\u201d said Bob Study, Park Ranger at <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/western\/fortfrederick.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fort Frederick State Park<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Highlights of the event include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Military Formation and camps open at 9:00 a.m. both days<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Battle Demonstrations at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> American Indian programs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. on Sunday<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Military Music of the French and Indian War at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The weekend program takes a deeper look at the relationships between the different cultures that fought for control of North America. The French and Indian War, fought between 1756 and 1763, changed the landscape and fabric of the North American continent forever. The war, which pitched the French and their Indian allies against the British and their Indian allies, brought destruction to the Maryland frontier. As a result, the colony of Maryland constructed Fort Frederick in 1756 as its main line of defense for securing the frontier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gifts, snacks, and souvenirs will be available for sale at Captain Wort&#8217;s Sutler Shop. The Clear Spring Lions Club will have hot dogs, chips, and water for sale during the program. An expanded group of sutlers including a basket maker, potters, a hornsmith, and a furniture maker will also be available during the weekend selling their reproduction 18th century wares.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There is a service charge of $3 per car for Maryland residents and $5 per car for non-Maryland residents for this event. Disabled access is available, however, most of the event activities are situated on grassy areas that may present difficult rolls or walks. Please dress for inclement weather or hot sunny days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fort Frederick is located off of Interstate 70 exit 12 at State Route 56, in Big Pool, Maryland.
