Maryland Dedicates Annual Event to Those Who Served<\/span><\/i>

\"PhotoThe Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> invites all current and former service members and their families to Patriot Point<\/a> in Dorchester County Sept. 21 to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The annual event includes fishing, archery, shooting sports, and other activities centered on the outdoors and wildlife. A mentored dove hunt will also be offered for new and apprentice hunters.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Governor Larry Hogan proclaimed 2019 as the Year of the Veteran<\/a> in Maryland. This year-long observance raises awareness of the brave service and sacrifice our United States veterans and families have made for Maryland and our country.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe new partnership between the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Patriot Point creates a remarkable opportunity to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on Maryland’s Eastern Shore,\u201d Wildlife and Heritage Service Director Paul Peditto said. \u201cWe are proud to offer this event on a beautiful waterfront setting and honor our veterans, their families, and supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/span>There is no charge to participate, but because space is limited, advance registration is required. A separate registration is required to participate in the dove hunt, and all hunters must complete the requirements for newly licensed or apprentice hunters in Maryland.<\/span>

National Hunting and Fishing Day was created by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to celebrate the conservation successes of America\u2019s anglers and hunters. Sportsmen generate nearly $800 million annually for state and local economies, supporting countless job opportunities, boosting local economies, and helping fund public resources.<\/span><\/p>\n
