Discharge of untreated sewage from vessels is illegal anywhere within 3 miles of the United States coast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Within NDZ boundaries, vessel operators are required to retain their sewage for disposal onshore at a pumpout facility and must disable \u201ctreat and release\u201d marine sanitation devices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Severn River Association, with the support of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis, has prepared a draft NDZ application for the waters of Anne Arundel County.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interested members of the public are invited to any of three public information sessions to ask questions, provide comments, and learn more about the proposal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meetings will be held the following times and locations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aug. 14 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Annapolis Recreation Center, 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aug. 19 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Anne Arundel County Police Department, 35 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aug. 22 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department, 161 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Public comments will be taken at these meetings and attached to the NDZ proposal.
