Anyone Can Fish June 1, June 8 and July 4<\/em><\/p>\n

\"PhotoThe Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> invites anglers to experience our state\u2019s myriad waterways during <\/span>license-free fishing days<\/span><\/a> on June 1, June 8 and July 4. These annual events allow everyone the chance to test their fishing skills or reinvigorate their love of fishing without needing a license, trout stamp or registration. <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Maryland hosts this opportunity annually on the first two Saturdays in June and on the Independence Day holiday. An individual may catch and possess finfish in any tidal and nontidal waters of Maryland, as long as it\u2019s for recreational purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are lucky to live in a state where you can fish in fresh, brackish and salt water — often all in the same day if you want,\u201d Recreational Fishing Outreach Coordinator Erik Zlokovitz said. \u201cThis opportunity allows recreational anglers to try their hand at something new before committing to a license.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

All anglers must follow current size and catch limits. An <\/span>online guide<\/span><\/a> is available and a printed version can picked up at many <\/span>service centers<\/span><\/a> or local bait-and-tackle shops. Anglers are encouraged to submit their catches to the<\/span> Maryland Angler\u2019s Log<\/span><\/a> or compete in the new\u00a0 <\/span>FishMaryland<\/span><\/a> competition. The department also has dozens of other resources to help new or experienced anglers, including <\/span>angler access maps<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Click Before You Cast<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and <\/span>fish identification charts<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Anglers who decide to get or renew their license can do so either<\/span> online<\/span><\/a>, on the department\u2019s<\/span> mobile app<\/span><\/a>, by phone or in person at any Maryland Department of Transportation<\/span> Motor Vehicle Administration<\/span><\/a> licensing center. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
