{"id":26472,"date":"2019-03-05T14:00:14","date_gmt":"2019-03-05T19:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=26472"},"modified":"2019-03-05T14:00:14","modified_gmt":"2019-03-05T19:00:14","slug":"funding-available-for-resilience-restoration-and-stewardship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2019\/03\/05\/funding-available-for-resilience-restoration-and-stewardship\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding Available for Resilience, Restoration and Stewardship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Innovative Projects Can Access Funding Through New \u2018Grants Gateway\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright \" src=\"https:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2850\/10404455623_8b70204a45.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Chesapeake Bay from shoreline\" width=\"350\" height=\"227\" \/>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> announced that $24.75 million in funding is available for local governments and nonprofit organizations seeking to restore local waterways, increase climate resilience and develop the next generation of environmental stewards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To streamline the grant application and management process, the department has created a new \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/ccs\/Pages\/funding\/grantsgateway.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grants Gateway<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d that provides a single entry point for prospective grantees, and assures access to funding for innovative, local projects.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhether it is fostering healthy ecosystems, building resiliency, or providing outdoor learning experiences, the Grants Gateway will serve as a one-stop shop for communities seeking support for their projects,\u201d Maryland Department of Natural Resources Acting Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. \u201cLocal efforts play an important role in attaining our environmental goals.
