All junior hunters, and their adult mentors must possess a Maryland hunting license or be license-exempt.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the waterfowl seasons wind down, this youth waterfowl hunting day provides an opportunity to focus on developing our young hunters,\u201d Wildlife and Heritage Service Director Paul Peditto said. \u201cAlthough winter weather can be tough and appropriate safety precautions must be taken, there are few things that warm a hunter up like a frosty Maryland sunrise and the sound of wings overhead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Youth hunters, including those possessing an <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/nrp\/Pages\/About-the-Apprenticeship-Hunting-License.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apprentice license<\/a>, must purchase a Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp.\u00a0Youth under the age of 16 do not need to purchase a federal duck stamp.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/hunting\/migratory-game-bird-seasons-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bag limits<\/a>\u00a0for the Youth Waterfowl Hunting Day is the same as the regular seasons except:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two black ducks may be taken;<\/li>\n<li>Two Canada geese may be taken when hunting within the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/huntersguide\/Documents\/Goose_Hunt_Zones_Map.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlantic Population Canada Goose\u00a0Hunting Zone<\/a>; and<\/li>\n<li>Five Canada geese may be taken when hunting within the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/huntersguide\/Documents\/Goose_Hunt_Zones_Map.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlantic Flyway Resident Population Canada Goose Hunting Zone<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Licenses, stamps and permits may be purchased\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/compass.dnr.maryland.gov\/dnrcompassportal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online<\/a>,\u00a0by phone at 855-855-3906, at a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/service_centers.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">service center<\/a>\u00a0or at any one of more than\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/service_agents.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">250 retailers<\/a>\u00a0statewide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chance for Young Hunters to Hone Skills Young hunters have one more chance this season to hone their skills with the help of an experienced adult during a\u00a0Youth\u00a0Waterfowl Hunt Day\u00a0Feb. 9, reports the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
