Ayton State Tree Nursery<\/a>, located near Preston in Caroline County.<\/p>\n<p>About 47 different conifer, hardwood and shrub species, most native to Maryland, are grown each year, many of which are planted along creeks, rivers and streams as part of state\u2019s tree planting program aimed at enhancing habitat and water quality throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.<!--more--><span id=\"gmail-more-24070\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you have Black Walnut trees on your property or in your yard, and don\u2019t know what to do with all the walnuts that fall each autumn, please consider donating them to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Forest Service<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Citizens can drop off walnuts \u2013 in bags, boxes or containers \u2013\u00a0at either\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/western\/gambrill.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gambrill State Park<\/a>\u00a0in Frederick County or the Natural Resource Conservation Service office in Hagerstown (Washington County).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a>\u00a0will be collecting walnuts until Oct. 26, 2018.
