{"id":23550,"date":"2018-08-16T08:00:21","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T12:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=23550"},"modified":"2018-08-14T16:31:18","modified_gmt":"2018-08-14T20:31:18","slug":"trapper-education-course-offered-in-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2018\/08\/16\/trapper-education-course-offered-in-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Trapper Education Course Offered in September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Registration Required by Sept. 14<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright \" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4642\/38629117254_f1a87b8089_b_d.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"433\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> is holding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.register-ed.com\/events\/view\/126119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trapper education course<\/a>\u00a0from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22, 2018, at the Casselman Valley Sportsman\u2019s Club in Garrett County (<span class=\"street-address\">8751 National Pike,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"locality\">Grantsville).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Anyone interested in trapping <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/hunt_trap\/furbearers.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">furbearers<\/a>, under the authority of a Furbearer Permit, must first obtain a Certificate of Trapper Education from the department.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In order to pass the course and obtain the certification card, participants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a <strong>completed<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Documents\/Maryland_Trapper_Ed_Workbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Trapper Education Workbook<\/a> to the course for review;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in trap handling\/field exercises; and<\/li>\n<li>Pass the written test (50 questions) with a score of at least 70 percent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is <strong>no cost<\/strong> to take the class, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.register-ed.com\/events\/view\/126119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registration is required<\/a> before Sept. 14, 2018.
