{"id":22045,"date":"2018-05-30T08:00:49","date_gmt":"2018-05-30T12:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=22045"},"modified":"2018-07-11T09:12:50","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T13:12:50","slug":"deep-creek-lake-water-quality-monitoring-data-now-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2018\/05\/30\/deep-creek-lake-water-quality-monitoring-data-now-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Deep Creek Lake Water Quality Monitoring Data Now Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Eyes on Deep Creek Lake Provides Current and Historic Data<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright \" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/9\/8133\/28858880094_01be05a310.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Deep Creek Lake\" width=\"351\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> has released a <a href=\"http:\/\/eyesonthebay.dnr.maryland.gov\/dcl\/deepcreeklake.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new online resource<\/a> to help residents and visitors of Deep Creek Lake stay up to date on water quality data and information.<\/p>\n<p>Eyes on Deep Creek Lake\u00a0is a new interactive feature on the department\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyesonthebay.net\/\">Eyes on the Bay<\/a>\u00a0page, and places the Garrett County lake\u2019s comprehensive water quality data readily available to the public.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Visitors to the site can view monthly data such as dissolved oxygen, nutrient concentration and\u00a0water temperature.\u00a0Currently, data from nine cove stations and four sentinel deep water stations are available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new tool will give residents and visitors to Deep Creek Lake easy access to conditions and insights into the state of water quality in the lake,\u201d Resource Assessment Service Director Bruce Michael said. \u201cWe anticipate that additional information will be available as we develop new and more refined resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Water quality conditions are impacted by natural influences such as droughts, seasonal variations and storms as well as other behaviors such as boating and development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water within Maryland. Like all of the state&#8217;s lakes, Deep Creek Lake is man-made and was created in 1925. The department has managed the lake property since 2000, providing public access via <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/western\/deepcreek.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deep Creek Lake State Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eyes on Deep Creek Lake Provides Current and Historic Data The\u00a0Maryland Department of Natural Resources has released a new online resource to help residents and visitors of Deep Creek Lake stay up to date on water quality data and information.
