{"id":19922,"date":"2018-02-08T08:00:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T13:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=19922"},"modified":"2018-07-11T09:13:50","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T13:13:50","slug":"land-preservation-and-recreation-survey-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2018\/02\/08\/land-preservation-and-recreation-survey-now-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Land Preservation and Recreation Survey Now Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Citizens and Visitors Encouraged to Provide Feedback<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/4\/3845\/15103463347_174ceacccf_b_d.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a dog and master at beach by Ink Byers\" width=\"350\" height=\"365\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Friends Forever by Ink Byers<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"dnr.maryland.gov\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> invites residents and nonresidents to share their thoughts on <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/land\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">land acquisition, conservation and recreation<\/a> in the state by completing the Maryland Land Preservation and Recreation Plan Survey.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who complete the 3-5 minute <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doit.state.md.us\/selectsurvey\/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=l21I98l#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online survey<\/a> will be entered into a random drawing to win <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Maryland Park Service<\/a> day-use passes.<\/p>\n<p>The survey, which includes questions on outdoor activities, amenities and services like camping, fishing and hunting, helps guide the department\u2019s decision-making, investments and programming.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Results will be incorporated into the Land Preservation and Recreation Plan, which is required to receive federal funding from the National Park Service\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2018\/01\/03\/funding-available-for-outdoor-recreation-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Land and Water Conservation Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking the pulse of our customers, guests and users is essential to our strategic development, planning and prioritization goals and needs,\u201d Maryland Natural Resources Secretary Mark Belton said. \u201cAre we meeting our customers\u2019 expectations by providing them exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities? Are we shortchanging an evolving customer base or meeting their need? Are we spending too much on trail construction and maintenance over historical interpretation and programming?
