{"id":19774,"date":"2018-01-26T08:00:20","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T13:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=19774"},"modified":"2018-01-25T14:57:06","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T19:57:06","slug":"public-input-sought-on-state-forest-work-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2018\/01\/26\/public-input-sought-on-state-forest-work-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Input Sought on State Forest Work Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Comments Accepted Through Feb. 23<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/2\/1682\/25556514331_1effb34d5c_b_d.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Green Ridge State Forest by Mark Beals\" width=\"350\" height=\"328\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Green Ridge State Forest by Mark Beals<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> is seeking public comment on the <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/workplans.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed Fiscal Year 2019 work plans<\/a> for the following state forests: <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/chesapeakeforestlands.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chesapeake Forest<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/publiclands\/eastern_pocomokeforest.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pocomoke<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/publiclands\/western_greenridgeforest.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Ridge<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/publiclands\/western_potomacforest.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Potomac-Garrett<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/publiclands\/western_savageriverforest.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Savage River<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The comment period ends Feb. 23.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe rely on the public\u2019s input to help us develop the most comprehensive and effective management plans and practices to assure we all reap the positive benefits of healthy and sustainable forests,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Forest Service<\/a> Director Don VanHassent said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Annual work plans help the department identify priorities within the scope of the forests\u2019 long-range management and sustainability. They address composition, establishment, growth, health and quality along with construction and maintenance projects.<\/p>\n<p>The comment period is the final part of a three-step process.
