The passport is a great, economical way for everyone, especially families, to enjoy the best of the <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Park Service<\/a>.\u00a0Plus, if you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shopdnr.com\/marylandstateparkpassports.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">purchase a 2018 passport today<\/a> you can use it throughout the remainder of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>We also offer a <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/publiclands\/Pages\/goldenage.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Golden Age Pass<\/a>, which provides people, aged 62 or older, free day-use entry and complimentary boat launch, in addition to half-price camping Sunday through Thursday. This lifetime pass costs a one-time fee of $10. And now it can now purchase one online at <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Publiclands\/Pages\/parkpass.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shopdnr.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For our next generation of park advocates and guests, we have <a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2017\/10\/17\/maryland-continues-commitment-to-every-kid-in-a-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">once again partnered<\/a> with the U.S. Department of the Interior\u2019s Every Kid in a Park program. This program provides fourth-grade children and their families free admission to Maryland state parks, along with national parks and other federal lands across the country.<\/p>\n<p>As we develop these future stewards of our public lands and spaces, we\u2019re also looking for ways to expand, improve and support those resources. To help keep that promise, I\u2019m proud that Governor Larry Hogan has named me as co-chair of the newly formed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2017\/10\/14\/governor-larry-hogan-announces-maryland-outdoor-recreational-economic-commission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Outdoor Recreational Economic Commission<\/a>, which will develop strategies and make recommendations to strengthen the state\u2019s outdoor recreation industry and help ensure increased investment in our state\u2019s outdoor activities, economies and resources.<\/p>\n<p>I share the governor\u2019s hope that our work will help ensure that our state\u2019s natural heritage is strengthened, bringing about new businesses, increased visitation and tourism, and ultimately enhance and preserve our natural resources for this and future generations.<\/p>\n<p>Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I regularly encourage everyone to get outside to enjoy Maryland\u2019s great outdoors, especially our state parks and their 900 miles of trails, as well as unique water access and camping facilities found throughout the state.
