Mourning Dove Season Opens Sept. 1<\/em><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> has announced the state\u2019s 2017-2018 early migratory game bird hunting seasons. Bag limits, season dates and shooting hours can be found in the\u00a02017-2018 Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese seasons mark the traditional start of hunting activity in Maryland,\u201d\u00a0Wildlife and Heritage Service<\/a>\u00a0Director Paul Peditto said. \u201cWe wish all hunters a safe and successful year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season dates are as follows:<\/p>\n

Dove, split season<\/strong>
\nFirst Season: Sept. 1 \u2013 Oct. 14
\nSecond Season: Oct. 26 \u2013 Nov. 18
\nThird Season: Dec. 16 \u2013 Jan. 6, 2018<\/p>\n

Woodcock, split season<\/strong>
\nFirst Season: Oct. 27 \u2013 Nov. 24
\nSecond Season: Jan. 12\u201327, 2018<\/p>\n

Early\u00a0resident Canada goose season*<\/strong>
\nEastern zone: Sept. 1\u201315
\nWestern zone: Sept. 1\u201325
\n*Hunters are allowed to use shotguns capable of holding more than three shot shells. Shooting hours are extended to a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset.<\/em><\/p>\n

Teal, September season**<\/strong>
\nSept. 16\u201330
\n**Shooting hours will be a half-hour before sunrise to sunset. The daily bag limit is six.<\/em><\/p>\n

All migratory bird hunters, including landowners who are license-exempt, must purchase a Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp\/Harvest Information Program Permit<\/a> and possess the printed receipt while hunting. All waterfowl hunters ages 16 and older must possess the Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp (Federal Duck Stamp). Licenses, permits and stamps can be purchased\u00a0online<\/a>, by phone at 855-855-3906, at a\u00a0department service center<\/a>\u00a0or any of the 250\u00a0sport license agents<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Official shooting hours begin 30 minutes before sunrise and end at sunset for all early migratory game bird hunting seasons except for mourning doves during the first season segment, when shooting hours are from noon to sunset, and during the September resident Canada goose seasons.
