49 Recipients Get Funds for Local Cleanup and Conservation Activities<\/em><\/p>\n

Parks & People Foundation\u2019s paid internship program, Branches, received a grant for its work engaging low-income high school students in cleaning neighborhoods, creating green spaces and maintaining parks.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Maryland Environmental Trust<\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0awarded 49\u00a0Keep Maryland Beautiful grants<\/a>\u00a0totaling over $160,000 to municipalities, nonprofits and schools for\u00a0beautification projects, community cleanup activities\u00a0and environmental education programs throughout the state.<\/p>\n

Nineteen counties and Baltimore City received the grants, an annual program funded by the Maryland Environmental Trust, Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

These stewardship-focused grants help develop and support communities, families and youth taking\u00a0personal responsibility for the health and quality of their communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to see this program expand to more than\u00a0$160,000 this year,\u201d Maryland Environmental Trust\u00a0Director Bill Leahy said. \u201cWe recognize a huge need to support local communities, nonprofits and others promoting proper stewardship of our neighborhoods and open spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n
