{"id":15042,"date":"2017-05-15T08:30:28","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T12:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=15042"},"modified":"2017-05-12T11:43:23","modified_gmt":"2017-05-12T15:43:23","slug":"maryland-free-fishing-days-set-june-and-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2017\/05\/15\/maryland-free-fishing-days-set-june-and-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland Free Fishing Days Set June and July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><em>Unique\u00a0Opportunity to Learn or Rediscover the Sport<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/9\/8030\/8073888125_ff970f7b8b_b.jpg\" width=\"351\" height=\"233\" \/>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a>\u00a0invites residents to participate in the state\u2019s three,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Fisheries\/Pages\/free-fishing.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free fishing days<\/a>\u00a0in 2017: June 3, June 10 and July 4.<\/p>\n<p>They provide a unique opportunity to fish the state\u2019s waters without obtaining\u00a0a fishing license, stamp or registration.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Maryland has a wealth of public fishing waters, where anglers can catch anything from cold-water trout and striped bass to tasty white perch and more than 60 other species,\u201d Fishing and Boating Services Director David Blazer said. &#8220;Free fishing days are a great way for any Marylander to\u00a0learn or rediscover the sport.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anglers must adhere to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/fishing\/seasons-minimum-sizes-daily-creel-possession-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">size and catch limits<\/a>.\u00a0Convenient fishing spots can be located on the <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/dnrapp.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">department\u2019s\u00a0free mobile app<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/gisapps.dnr.state.md.us\/PublicFishingAccess\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Angler\u2019s Access map<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are nearly\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/fisheries\/Pages\/license-free.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two dozen License-Free Fishing Areas<\/a>\u00a0located throughout the state, where\u00a0anglers can access\u00a0prime fishing areas with a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/service_fishing_license.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free angler registration<\/a>.\u00a0Any angler under the age of 16 is not required to have a fishing license.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unique\u00a0Opportunity to Learn or Rediscover the Sport The\u00a0Maryland Department of Natural Resources\u00a0invites residents to participate in the state\u2019s three,\u00a0free fishing days\u00a0in 2017: June 3, June 10 and July 4.
