{"id":11818,"date":"2016-10-24T14:59:48","date_gmt":"2016-10-24T18:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=11818"},"modified":"2017-04-14T15:10:06","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T19:10:06","slug":"newest-maryland-clean-marina-in-harford-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2016\/10\/24\/newest-maryland-clean-marina-in-harford-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Newest Maryland Clean Marina in Harford County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Department of Natural Resources Certifies\u00a0Bush River Yacht Club\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/6\/5720\/29909135063_f3c20b5b79_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"422\" height=\"186\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Bush River Yacht Club has now been declared the newest <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Boating\/Pages\/cleanmarina\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland Clean Marina<\/a> by the <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The maritime establishment adopted practices from the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/boating\/Pages\/cleanmarina\/cmprogram.aspx#guidebook\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland Clean Marina Guidebook<\/a><\/em>, met all environmental requirements and passed a site inspection before earning the designation.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/IMG_20161021_210026564.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11820 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/IMG_20161021_210026564-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"img_20161021_210026564\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/IMG_20161021_210026564-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/IMG_20161021_210026564.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/em>\u201cOur state has the longest-running Clean Marina Program in the United States, and we are pleased to continue helping marine facilities reduce their environmental impact and educate their boaters,&#8221; Maryland Clean Marina Program Manager Donna Morrow said. &#8220;Being right on the water, these actions have a significant effect on our creeks, streams, tributaries and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bush River Yacht Club is located in Abingdon and has a large club house, a pool, 148 slips and a pumpout station. Without a fuel dock or a boatyard, their clean marina efforts focused on emergency preparedness \u2013 inclusive of assembling a spill response kit, minimizing the impacts of stormwater, and increasing environmental education for members and guests.<\/p>\n<p>Long-time member Bill Corun led the effort for the club. \u201cAll the things we did for the Clean Marina award made sense,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cNow that we have emergency plans and a spill kit created, we\u2019ll be safer for years to come,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>There are now over\u00a0150 certified <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/boating\/Pages\/cleanmarina\/cleanmarinas.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland clean marinas and partners<\/a> across the state.\u00a0 These facilities have voluntarily put into practice a significant number of recommendations and conscientiously strive to keep our waterways clean and healthy.\u00a0 The department\u00a0re-inspects participants every three years to ensure they continue to meet the criteria and maintain their certification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Department of Natural Resources Certifies\u00a0Bush River Yacht Club\u00a0 Bush River Yacht Club has now been declared the newest Maryland Clean Marina by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
