Bag limits, season dates and shooting hours can be found in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eregulations.com\/maryland\/hunting\/\" target=\"_blank\">2016-2017 Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These seasons mark the traditional start of hunting activity in Maryland,\u201d Wildlife and Heritage Service Director Paul Peditto said. \u201cWe wish all hunters a safe and successful year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dove, split season<br \/>\n<\/strong>First Season: Sept. 1 \u2013 Oct. 8<br \/>\nSecond Season: Oct. 21 \u2013 Nov. 19<br \/>\nThird Season: Dec. 17 \u2013 Jan. 7, 2017<\/p>\n<p><strong>Woodcock, split season<br \/>\n<\/strong>First Season: Oct. 28 \u2013 Nov. 25<br \/>\nSecond Season: Jan. 13\u201328, 2017<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early <\/strong><strong>resident Canada goose season*<br \/>\n<\/strong>Eastern zone: Sept. 1\u201315<br \/>\nWestern zone: Sept.1\u201324<br \/>\n<em>*Hunters are allowed to use shotguns capable of holding over<\/em><em>\u00a0three shot shells. Shooting hours are extended to a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Teal, September season<\/strong><strong>**<br \/>\n<\/strong>Sept. 16\u201330<br \/>\n<em>**Shooting hours will be a half-our before sunrise to sunset. The daily bag limit is six<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All migratory bird hunters, including landowners who are license-exempt, must purchase a Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp\/Harvest Information Program Permit and possess the printed receipt while hunting. All waterfowl hunters ages 16 and over must possess the Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp (Federal Duck Stamp). Licenses, permits and stamps can be purchased <a href=\"https:\/\/compass.dnr.maryland.gov\/dnrcompassportal\"><u>online<\/u><\/a>, by phone at 855-855-3906, at a <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/service_centers.aspx\">department service center<\/a> or any of the 250 <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/service_agents.aspx\">sport license agents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Official shooting hours are a half-hour before sunrise to sunset for all early migratory game bird hunting seasons except for mourning doves during the first season segment, when shooting hours are from noon to sunset, and during the September resident Canada goose seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Hunters are encouraged to report banded migratory game birds by calling 800-327-BAND (2263) or <a href=\"reportband.gov\"><u>online<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mourning Dove Season Opens Sept. 1 The Maryland Department of Natural Resources today announced the 2016-2017 early migratory game bird hunting seasons.
