{"id":10065,"date":"2016-04-08T16:49:17","date_gmt":"2016-04-08T20:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=10065"},"modified":"2017-04-14T15:37:35","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T19:37:35","slug":"draft-state-wildlife-action-plan-open-for-public-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2016\/04\/08\/draft-state-wildlife-action-plan-open-for-public-comment\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft State Wildlife Action Plan Open for Public Comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>Responses due May 8<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/a> is seeking public comment on its draft <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/plants_wildlife\/SWAP_How-to-Help.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">State Wildlife Action Plan<\/a>, a plan that each state is required to review and revise every 10 years as requested by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn working side by side with federal, state and local organizations, the department has outlined a plan for Maryland\u2019s wildlife and associated habitats that represents a shared vision and strategy,\u201d Wildlife and Heritage Service Director Paul Peditto said.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is a non-regulatory blueprint to guide wildlife managers in conserving habitat and keeping declining wildlife species from becoming threatened or endangered.
