{"id":9794,"date":"2019-04-10T14:00:09","date_gmt":"2019-04-10T18:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dhcd\/?p=9794"},"modified":"2019-04-10T14:00:09","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T18:00:09","slug":"maryland-department-of-housing-and-community-development-announces-fiscal-year-2020-application-round-for-state-revitalization-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dhcd\/2019\/04\/10\/maryland-department-of-housing-and-community-development-announces-fiscal-year-2020-application-round-for-state-revitalization-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces Fiscal Year 2020 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces<br \/>\nFiscal Year 2020 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs<br \/>\n<\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Funding Available from Project C.O.R.E., Community Legacy,\u00a0the Strategic Demolition Fund-Statewide, Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative, National Capital Strategic Economic Development Fund and SEED: Community Development Anchor Institution Program<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>NEW CARROLLTON, MD (April 10, 2019)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is announcing the FY20 application round for six State Revitalization Programs \u2013 Project C.O.R.E, Community Legacy, Strategic Demolition Fund \u2013 Statewide (all non-Baltimore City), National Capital Strategic Economic Development Fund, Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative and SEED: Community Development Anchor Institution Program. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These programs offer funding to support various types of revitalization projects, such as housing, small business attraction and retention, arts and entertainment facilities, green spaces, etc. They are part of the department\u2019s commitment to helping the state\u2019s local governments and nonprofit agencies achieve their community revitalization and economic development goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Specifically, Governor Hogan\u2019s Fiscal Year 2020 budget items, approved by the Maryland General Assembly, include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Project C.O.R.E.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $18.75 million capital funds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Community Legacy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $6 million capital funds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Strategic Demolition Fund \u2013 Statewide<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $5.5 million capital funds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $12 million capital funds and $750,000 operating funds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>National Capital Strategic Economic Development Fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $4 million capital funds <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>SEED: Community Development Anchor Institution Program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: $5 million capital funds <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Applications will be due on Wednesday, June 12,<\/b> <b>at 12:00 p.m. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is the first year that the Department is launching a competitive application round for SEED. This fund provides competitive grants and loans to anchor institutions for community development projects in blighted areas of the state.
