Hughes Realty Co.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The honorees were among the many partners whose contributions helped make 2015 a banner year for the state\u2019s flagship homeownership program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/mmp.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Maryland Mortgage Program<\/a> has been the state\u2019s flagship mortgage purchase program for more than 40 years, offering qualified families a variety of fixed-rate mortgage loan options with low interest rates and generous downpayment and settlement cost assistance. Loans are administered by a network of more than 60 private lending institutions across the state and promoted through Maryland\u2019s growing relationship with the state\u2019s real estate community.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8253\" style=\"width: 284px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dhcd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/11\/keller-wms.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8253\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dhcd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/11\/keller-wms.jpg\" alt=\"Shari Harris for Keller Williams.\" width=\"274\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8253\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shari Harris for Keller Williams.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Maryland Mortgage Program enjoyed its best performance in many years in 2015 and for the first time in its history helped families achieve their dream of homeownership in all 24 jurisdictions in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>With significant discounts on the program\u2019s low rates and generous down payment assistance, recent Maryland Mortgage Program initiatives expanded opportunities for otherwise qualified families who may have found it hard to save the required down payment and settlement costs in the wake of the Great Recession.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the Maryland Mortgage Program\u00a0TriplePlay initiative in Prince George\u2019s County helped nearly 400 borrowers purchase homes in areas of the county that had been hard hit by the foreclosure crisis.
