We&#8217;ve compiled a list of warm climate window tips to save you money and keep cool at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Cooling Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Install window\u00a0curtains,\u00a0shades, drapes or blinds\u00a0to reduce sunlight entering your home.<\/li>\n<li>Close windows and\u00a0curtains on south- and west-facing windows during the day\u00a0to reflect heat away from the house.<\/li>\n<li>Install awnings on south- and west-facing windows. Also, apply\u00a0sun-control or other reflective films on south-facing windows to reduce solar heat gain.\u00a0According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/energy.gov\/energysaver\/articles\/energy-efficient-window-treatments\">Department of Energy<\/a>, window awnings can reduce solar heat gain in the summer by up to 65\u00a0percent\u00a0on south-facing windows and 77\u00a0percent\u00a0on west-facing windows.<\/li>\n<li>Open windows when the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature. The cool air helps pull down the overall temperature of the house.<\/li>\n<li>Buy\u00a0high-performance windows that have at least two panes of glass and <a href=\"http:\/\/efficientwindows.org\/lowe.php\">low-e coating<\/a>.
