The visits provided area leaders, business owners and residents the chance to connect with DHCD personally to learn about the department\u2019s key loan and grant programs.<\/p>\n<p>From Fiscal Year 2020 to 2025, DHCD has provided Prince George\u2019s County with more than $791 million in support for broadband, neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing and homelessness solutions projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/meips\/ADKq_NbkXVyl8yjO6EhwZ1vY6wgTbZp8ty30XEGu6A1delM4Xl77G_kXUVjhkx7aFp-TFw0Wd5PD7ER3d890tjVQh_S003-5iA5EgUjMJawXQiemkF7WA1M-uHwbJQCzgmDAVsicY5AD1SHkDf1gyARC0XiOvX-AB0EfL0XjKRiS3uI6accG9zPHU6SfYrkQLSUw92s-Qgc4niaqouDPYxKWVzk7dVPh0qQmNbTQim4=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/fancy_images\/MDDHCD\/2025\/09\/12425262\/6458430\/20250929-prince-georges-co-day-trip-1-jake-day-alan_crop.jpg\" alt=\"Baltimore Avenue Project\" width=\"557\" height=\"353\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This latest Day Trip was also unique because DHCD headquarters is located in Lanham, the only State of Maryland agency to be primarily based in Prince George\u2019s County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrince George\u2019s County is our home and I was proud to see the impact of our work on the community up close on our visit,\u201d <strong>said Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day.<\/strong> \u201cThe continuing collaboration with our county and municipal leaders to create more affordable housing and build strong businesses will ultimately elevate Prince George\u2019s County.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrong partnerships between our county and state leadership are essential to ensuring that our residents thrive,\u201d <strong>said Aisha N. The City of District Heights received funding by the department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/links-1.govdelivery.com\/CL0\/https:%2F%2Fdhcd.maryland.gov%2FCommunities%2FPages%2Flgif%2Fdefault.aspx\/1\/010001999c43e636-81da2d79-c8d4-4d50-9da9-30b15605de90-000000\/2Lah1WvRgUgbvgz3UpG2BZElPQsi8dpFAhNmHwG5Kpo=424\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/links-1.govdelivery.com\/CL0\/https:%252F%252Fdhcd.maryland.gov%252FCommunities%252FPages%252Flgif%252Fdefault.aspx\/1\/010001999c43e636-81da2d79-c8d4-4d50-9da9-30b15605de90-000000\/2Lah1WvRgUgbvgz3UpG2BZElPQsi8dpFAhNmHwG5Kpo%3D424&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1759349724863000&amp;usg=AOvVaw395hX6YwbmH0jJsuLsaWMj\">Local Government Infrastructure Finance program<\/a>, which was used to construct a senior center and youth counseling center, as well as other renovations. The LGIF program issues bonds, on behalf of counties, municipalities or other entities, to finance projects that serve the community at large.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reimaging of Marlboro Pike is about more than bricks and mortar\u2014it\u2019s about creating a healthier, more sustainable future for our community,\u201d <strong>said Cynthia Miller, Mayor of District Heights. <\/strong>\u201cBy anchoring new development with grocery options and innovative tools like hydroponic farming, we can ensure seniors and families alike have access to fresh, nutritious food right here at home.
