Deadline is Tomorrow for Hogan Administration’s $650,000 Storefront Improvement Grant Program in Baltimore City
BALTIMORE – The application deadline is tomorrow for the Hogan administration’s Maryland Business Recovery Storefront Improvement Grant Program. The deadline to submit applications is on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The Hogan administration last month announced the program to help small businesses and other property owners in Baltimore’s commercial districts brighten up and improve their exteriors.
Through the Maryland Business Recovery Storefront Improvement Grant Program, business and property owners can receive financial assistance to improve and beautify their storefronts. The program provides up to $10,000 per storefront, to improve building and storefront exteriors so that the visual appeal and marketability of individual buildings and commercial districts affected by the civil unrest will be enhanced.
The storefront improvement program will:
- Enhance the visual appeal and marketability of small businesses and commercial districts.
- Provide access to architectural design assistance that will assist property owners with enhancing historic features and aesthetic appeal of commercial buildings.
- Offer workforce development opportunities in the construction industry for under-employed Baltimore City residents.
While commercial properties directly affected by the civil unrest will receive priority, any business owner, property owner or non-profit organization occupying a commercial space in Baltimore City is encouraged to apply before the deadline.
The department’s division of neighborhood revitalization has held workshops to educate Baltimore-based business owners about the various state programs available to them such as the Maryland Business Recovery Storefront Improvement Grant Program and the Neighborhood Business Works Loan Program, and resources available through the Maryland Small Business Development Center.
