PUBLIC NOTICE: Amended Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act Interim Guidance for LIHTC Properties
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is providing an update regarding the implementation of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) requirements for properties participating in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has extended the implementation date for HOTMA from January 1, 2026 to January 1, 2027.
As a result, DHCD will extend the interim guidance established in Multifamily Notice 24-01 until the new implementation date.
This extension allows housing providers additional time to prepare for the HOTMA requirements while continuing to follow the interim guidance currently in place.
Additional information and updates will be provided by DHCD as the new implementation date approaches.
