In addition to DGS and MCP, the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, Baltimore City Police, Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management, and the Maryland State Police participated in the exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The purpose of this exercise is to discuss how the MCP would respond to active shooter type scenarios. The exercise is also used to determine how multiple law enforcement agencies would interact with each other during an active shooter event, the steps for employees and visitors to evacuate the building safely, and long-term support for employees after active shooter type events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\u201cOur agency is committed to ensuring both our employees and visitors are safe at all times,\u201d said DGS Secretary Churchill. \u201cThis simulated exercise is to ensure that Maryland\u2019s first responders are working in a coordination with each other in the event of an emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">###<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">About DGS: The Department of General Services is responsible for essential services and programs administered on behalf of the state, including procuring goods and services; designing, building, leasing, managing and maintaining facilities; leading energy conservation efforts; and providing essential services such as fuel management, disposition of surplus property and records management.
