Goldstein building. “We’re continuing our energy efficiency efforts by completing our installation of LED lights, which will help to lower our energy usage further.”

DGS began a series of energy efficiency measures at the building in 2013. As part of the lighting upgrades, maintenance and energy staffs were able to retrofit over 1,100 fixtures with fixtures that use less energy. All exterior lighting, including wall packs and parking lot lights, were upgraded to LEDs. Two energy efficient boilers and an energy efficient hot water heater were installed in 2015. Occupancy sensors were installed in restrooms to ensure lights were on only when needed. In addition to the upgrades, tenants have been encouraged to turn off lights when not in use and ensure computers use energy-saving settings.

“I’m proud of this recognition for the Louis L. Goldstein building and the employees who earned it,” said Secretary Gail Bassette. “Success was built on the cooperation and teamwork between DGS Facilities, Operations and Maintenance leadership; multi-service center management; energy, construction and building maintenance staffs; and tenants.”

The Louis L.
