September Honorees

Rose-Eva Dandridge has been with the Department of General Services since 2014. She started in Design, Construction & Energy’s (DCE) Construction Inspection division and several years ago moved into DCE’s the Project Cost Center (PCC).  Rose-Eva is an integral part of the DCE team. Rose-Eva wears many hats for the Design, Construction & Energy Division, and the work she does plays a critical part of every project the division does. From the beginnings of a capital project working with the Cost Center team to ensure all the essential documents are assembled, reviewed, and sent to DBM for funding to the weekly document coordination for operational & critical maintenance project review and approval. She goes about her work seamlessly and even as she assumes additional duties and tasks her work is impeccable. As the division has grown and technologies have changed Rose-Eva has taken it upon herself to streamline our processes, update our documents, increase efficiencies, and streamline how we handle day to day business operations so we could move away from a paper-based system to the digital world, this has allowed the division to move seamlessly toward teleworking. Her efforts along with the management team developed those processes during the early phases of the lockdown in 2020 that allowed the DCE team to continue working on projects for the State while access to the building was restricted.

Baltimore Maintenance Mechanic Casey Doy has worked for DGS for little over two years.  In that time, he not only has done his day-to-day job responsibilities as anyone does, but he has also gone above and beyond.  Casey does not hesitate to jump into action by going to other buildings to help out.  In addition, he comes back with a detailed report of what took place and what he did to address the problem in the building. For example, when the contractor working with the DGS Design, Construction and Energy Division showed up unannounced at the vacant 2100 Guilford Avenue building, Casey stopped what he was doing at State Center and drove over to allow the contractor access. Another example of Casey’s dedication is his commitment to training.  He has completed his eMaint transcript as assigned, but he took it upon himself to update his skills and retake some classes with CMMS.  Casey was also one of the first Baltimore Facilities Management employees to take Facilities Management courses.  Casey expanded his knowledge by taking classes in Air Handling, Water Treatment & Plumbing, Refrigeration Systems & Accessories, and Energy Management Controls to earn his Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC). Casey is just like a sponge.  He absorbs everything taught to him.  When he first started working for DGS, Casey did not know how to use large equipment.  After a few training sessions with the chief of grounds, Casey became adept at operating lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, weed whackers, leaf blowers and the riding industrial vacuum sweeper to  perform landscaping maintenance.  Casey also learned how to use large snow removal equipment and now confidently operates the tractor and plow as well as the Gator with a plow attachment and salt spreader.  He also fills the brine tank with solution and helps to pretreat parking lots and sidewalks with the Brutus to keep Baltimore grounds clear of ice and snow during the winter. In the past year, Casey has worked closely with building managers on a good number of jobs.  A common theme in each is that he is always on time and willing to lend a helping hand.  Casey has no problem jumping in to do whatever is needed.  He pays attention to detail and only has to be shown once how to do a repair.  He continuously asks the right questions and completes his job right the first time. With all the work Casey has put in, he has decided to take it a step further.  He applied for a vacant DGS Building Manager’s position, interviewed and was chosen.  Casey will now be moving up in the ranks.  This is a well-deserved promotion for a hardworking young man who will do fine in the Baltimore Division.
