General Services Appoints Mark Riesett as Deputy Director of Procurement Operations Bureau

General Services is proud to announce a new member to our senior leadership team to further strengthen our already talented Department of General Services. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Mark Riesett who is promoted to Deputy Director of the Procurement Operations Bureau. In this newly created position, Mark will assist the Director of the Procurement Operations Bureau by directing all day-to-day activities to ensure Statewide strategic contracts for goods and services needed by the State are developed and managed properly to meet the State’s objectives.

Mark previously ran a small business prior to finding his ideal career in both public and private procurement over the last ten years. He began his public career with the State at the Maryland Department of Transportation – State Highway Administration before coming to General Services. He most recently served this department as the Associate Director of Procurement for A&E and Construction with the creation of the Office of State Procurement and served as Acting Director of Procurement when it was vacated in December 2020.

Mark holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Baltimore.
