As a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of John Paul Stevens, retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, by executive order the United States Flag is to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on the day of his interment, Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States John Paul Stevens passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.
