MSDE to Host First Statewide Joint Titles Conference

Conference Focus On Coordinating Federal Resources to Promote Equity

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Department of Education will be hosting its first Statewide Joint Titles Conference, “Coordinating Federal Resources to Promote Equity.” This conference will focus on several different avenues of collaboration shown to improve student performance.

“The importance of collaboration and coordination of federally funded Title programs is essential in promoting equity.” Said Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools and keynote speaker on day one of the conference.

Maryland’s Every Student Succeeds Act Consolidated State Plan (ESSA) emphasizes collaboration as critical in meeting the needs of students and addressing the components of the plan. There will be sessions on federally funded Title programs including Title I, Title II, Title III and Title IV.  In addition, sessions on relevant topics related to Maryland’s ESSA plan will be covered. The conference will be held on July 10th and 11th at Reservoir High School in Howard County.  All twenty-four local school systems have staff attending.
