Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, October 24
BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 24, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m.
Please note there will be no Monday work session this month.
Items on this month’s regular agenda include the following (times approximate):
10:20 a.m. Teacher Induction
The State Board will hear a report on the activities of the Teacher Induction, Retention, and Advancement Act of 2016 Workgroup, and MSDE’s response to the recommendations.
10:40 a.m. High School Graduation
The State Board will consider recommendations on passing scores for State assessments as they relate to graduation, as well as recommendations regarding the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation.
11:40 a.m. MSDE Research
The State Superintendent and MSDE staff will provide the Board with an update on MSDE’s new Office of Research and Strategic Data Use.
11:50 a.m. School Safety
Edward Clarke, executive director of the Maryland Center for School Safety, will update State Board members on the Center’s work.
