Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, May 23

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 23, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m.

Please note there will be no Monday work session this month.

Items on this month’s regular agenda include the following:

9:03 a.m. Every Student Succeeds Act

The Maryland State Department of Education will continue its work on the State’s plan for the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, concentrating on the accountability framework and measures of student success/school quality.

11:15 a.m. Teachers of the Year

All 24 of Maryland’s 2017-18 local Teachers of the Year will be recognized by the State Board, followed by a luncheon with Board members.

3 p.m. District Spotlight: Carroll

Carroll County Superintendent Steve Guthrie and members of his team will meet with the State Board and highlight some of the system’s initiatives.
