Maryland State Board Of Education To Meet On Tuesday, January 24

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 24, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m.

Note: Parts of the seventh floor are currently under reconstruction.  While the State Board room itself remains open, visitors should be aware there may be some construction-related dust and other inconveniences.

Items on this month’s agenda include the following:

9:05 a.m.         Every Student Succeeds Act Update

The State Board will discuss Maryland’s work on its Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan, with an eye on completing the plan this summer.  MSDE is in the midst of a statewide ESSA listening tour, designed to gather public input on the plan.

11 a.m.             Charter School Funding

The Maryland State Department of Education will review and discuss a new report on charter school funding in the State.

1:45 p.m.         Graduation

Dr. Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, will announce Maryland’s latest graduation and dropout data as part of her monthly update to the State Board.
